The MiFID Directive, which regulates advice and sales of investment products to customers, is in the process of being revised at EU level. A proposal for a new Directive is being considered by the European Parliament and the Member States.
Right now, NFU works to influence the Parliament. We have proposed a set of changes to the directive; formulations to ensure better training for employees as well as better protection of employees, who decide to blow the whistle and report breaches of the law to the supervisory authority.
Via our network in Brussels we are arguing for our position, and will work with Members of the parliament who will put forward our amendment proposals. The next step is to get other Members to vote for the amendments. At the same time NFU Member Unions are in contact with national governments. We will keep you posted!
