The Management Board of Nordic Financial Union has appointed Carin Hallerström as new General Secretary of NFU. She will take up her new position as General Secretary of NFU from September 1, 2020.

Carin Hallerström is passionate about international trade union cooperation. Currently working as International Secretary at Swedish trade union Unionen, she has extensive experience from international trade union work, the finance sector, and European affairs. As General Secretary of NFU, Carin Hallerström will be responsible for managing the NFU Secretariat, as-well as preparing and implementing the NFU Work Plan and the decisions of the Management Board and Union Council.

– NFU is a strong player on the European arena and in the UNI family. As new General Secretary of NFU I look forward to continuing to develop this position together with the secretariat and the affiliates, says Carin Hallerström.

Carin Hallerström has thorough understanding of how political organisations operate, from working closely with the political leadership at Unionen and Swedish NFU affiliate Finansförbundet (FSU-SE). Before joining Unionen in 2010, she has experience from working with the Swedish Minister of Employment and from the European Commission.

– I am happy that NFU is able to hire a capacity like Carin Hallerström as General Secretary. I am confident that Carin will add to our competences and further strengthen NFU’s position as a strong and constructive partner in developing a sustainable Nordic financial sector. I look forward to the cooperation with Carin, says NFU President Michael Budolfsen.

Furthermore, Carin Hallerström holds a Degree in Business Administration from Örebro University and a Certificate in Sustainable Leadership from Stockholm School of Economics Executive Education. Besides fluency in Swedish and English, she also speaks French and German.
