Parliament has now confirmed all 26 Commissioners following hearings and a package deal. This decision contrasts with the European Parliament’s traditional scrutiny of proposed Commissioners, which routinely resulted in individual blockages of candidates.

NFU Secretary General Carin Hallerström expressed: "Our expectations are high, especially for all three Nordic Commissioners. European Housing Commissioner Dan Jørgensen’s realism that neither national states nor the EU can solve the housing market crises is a good sign, as the Commissioner has correctly analysed that private funding through the Capital Market is an obvious solution."

NFU also views the idea of a pan-European investment platform in the works positively. "We are looking forward to the proposal by the European Commission in conjunction with the European Investment Bank (EIB) early in 2025," commented Carin Hallerström.

NFU is also encouraged by Commissioner Henna Virkkunen. She demonstrated clear leadership, especially with regard to strong enforcement of the Digital Services Act (DSA) and Digital Markets Act (DMA). "When online platforms spread misinformation and hate, the European Commission has to enforce all tools at its disposal for the benefit of all Europeans," Carin Hallerström stated.

Carin Hallerström also has high expectations for Commissioner Jessica Roswall: "We at NFU and everyone in the Nordic financial trade union movement hope and believe that the Swedish Commissioner will defend the accomplishments of the European Green Deal."
